Dexter, Foxcroft, PCHS track open the season
BREWER — The Dexter Regional High School, Foxcroft Academy and Piscataquis Community High School outdoor track & field teams opened the 2026 season with a Penobscot Valley Conference meet on April 22 at the Brewer Community School.
The PCHS girls finished the day with a score of 62 points to place fourth among eight teams.
The Pirates had four of the top five throws in the javelin. Olivia Goodwin came in first with a distance measuring 85 feet, 5 inches.
Molly Goodwin placed second at 82-11 with Ella Zeller right behind at 74-03 and Ava Edes was fifth at 69-07.
Sadie Kelley had the top time in the racewalk at 9 minutes, 53.71 seconds. Kelley bested Caribou High School’s Kaitlyn Crouse’s 12;36.66 by about 2:43.
Edes placed second in the 300 in 56.14 seconds. She ran the second leg of the 4×400 relay as Kelley, Edes, Olivia Goodwin and Molly Goodwin combined for a time of 5:35.49. Edes was also part of a 3-way tie for third in the high jump at 4-08.
Molly Goodwin came in second in the triple jump with a leap of 26-06.
The Dexter girls were seventh with 31 points.
Jazmin Channon earned top honors in the long jump as she jumped exactly 15 feet, 3 inches more than the 14-09 for Gwen Bushnell of Bangor High School.
Channon anchored the second-place 4×100 squad as Laekiah Lee, Asani Miller, Cassidy Drew and Channon covered the lap in 55.15 seconds. Channon was also sixth in the 100 at 14.29 seconds.
Ella McClintock-Hatch came in third in the 1,600 at 6:27.75. She also finished fourth in the 800 at 2:54.23.
Miller was sixth in the 200 in 29.84 seconds, as was Crystal Adkins in the high jump at 4-04.
The girls from Foxcroft were eighth with a score of eight points.
Chaparral Schiff placed third in the 3,200 in a time of 14:36.15.
Alexis Arcaro came in fifth in the 200 in 29.65 seconds.
In the boys’ meet, Foxcroft picked up 40 points to come in sixth among a field of eight schools.
Conner Donahue had the day’s top performance in the long jump at 19-04.75, 4.25 inches beyond the 19-00.50 for Bangor’s Jasper Sparks. Donahue also finished third in the 100 in 11.88 seconds.
Aiden Bryant came in second in the 110 hurdles in a time of 17.74 seconds.
He opened the third-place 4×100 relay with Bryant, Ben Mailloux, Jamison Lilly and Landon Smith combining for a time of 49.83 seconds.
Smith had a third-place triple jump performance at 35-01.
Tristan Brunner was fourth in the 400 at 58.78 seconds.
The Dexter boys were seventh with 35.33 points.
Damair Miller finished in the top four in four events.
He came in second in the triple jump at 39 feet, was third in both the 200 and high jump at 25.69 seconds and 5-02 and placed fourth in the long jump at 18-05.50.
Brady Jerome had fourth-place discus and shot put throws at respective distances of 105-03 and 44-03.
Piet Gehler was part of a 3-way tie for fourth in the high jump at 5 feet.
Tristan Hopkins-Watrous added a sixth-place 110 hurdle performance in 20.27 seconds.
The PCHS boys came in eighth with 16 points as two Pirates were second in their events.
Oliver Luckovskis finished as the 800 runnerup in 2:14.35.
Noah Kain’s javelin throw of 131-06 was good for second place.
