Salley hired as Foxcroft Academy field hockey head coach

DOVER-FOXCROFT — Foxcroft Academy is promoting from within with assistant coach Kilee Salley being named the new field hockey head coach, announced via a post on the school’s Facebook page.

A 2017 Foxcroft Academy graduate, Salley will succeed Davan Walker ‘00 who stepped down from the position after the 2025 season in order to spend more time with family.

Salley is experienced on the sidelines, having served as an assistant and JV coach for the Ponies for the past four seasons. She played a crucial role in the Ponies’ Class C championship victory last fall.

“I’m really excited for the opportunity to be the next field hockey coach at Foxcroft,” Salley said. “I want to thank coach Walker for her leadership over the past four years. She was the calming force behind the program, leading by example. She helped the student-athletes believe in themselves, and I look forward to continuing that over the coming seasons.”

The Ponies are coming off an undefeated 2025 season (18-0) and are only losing two players to graduation, so a strong nucleus is coming back, which means high expectations for next fall.

“We’ve got a lot of quality players coming back off the championship team, and we have a great group of eighth graders ready to join us in the fall so the future is very bright for this program,” Salley said. “But we can’t rest on the past. It’s time to move on to the next chapter of Pony field hockey and see what success we can have.”

Salley will be only the fifth coach in program history. She is ready to step into this leadership role, according to Athletic Administrator Jaclyn Tourtelotte. “Kilee played under Stephaine (Higgins) Smith ’88, and she has had Gene Philpot, a Hall of Famer in FA Athletics, around the program for a long time. Additionally, the experience she gained while working with coach Walker and coach Taylor Dow ’09 will contribute to her success. I believe coach Salley will continue the tradition of highly successful field hockey coaches at Foxcroft Academy. We have a lot to look forward to.”
