MILO — A Milo man has been charged after police found numerous dead cats and dogs at his home.
Calvin Theriault, 41, faces charges of animal cruelty and making a false police report, according to CBS affiliate WABI.
Theriault called police on March 29 to allege that his girlfriend assaulted him.
But when police arrived at Theriault’s Turner Howe Road home, officers found 12 cats and eight dogs, all malnourished and living in “deplorable” conditions, WABI reported.
Officers found numerous dead cats and dogs in a freezer in the home and another dead dog in a cooler on the property, according to the TV station.
The living animals were taken to shelters, while dead animals were taken for necropsy.
The investigation is ongoing.
