Make all your wishes come true with ‘Disney’s Aladdin JR.’

DOVER-FOXCROFT — “Disney’s Aladdin JR.” is playing at the Central Hall Commons from Saturday, April 4 through Saturday, April 12. The spectacular 60-minute musical, designed for middle school-aged performers, is based on the 1992 Disney film and the 2014 Broadway adaptation. The SeDoMoCha Stageworks cast and crew includes over 40 students from grades 2-10.

Director David Murray says he is especially excited about the show since it is the second time Stageworks has performed it. “It was the first musical we ever did, way back in 2019,” he says. “Several of the eighth-grade actors you see on stage were in first grade the first time we did Aladdin! It’s really fun to see how much they’ve grown as singers and performers as they tackle the show for a second time.”

Ring bells! Bang the drums! Are you gonna love this exciting stage adaptation of the legendary tale of the lovable thief with the heart of gold! Join Aladdin, Jasmine and the fast-talking, wisecracking Genie as they discover mystical caves, take magic carpet rides and outwit the evil sorcerer Jafar. Adapted especially for young performers, this musical includes favorite Alan Menken songs such as “Friend Like Me,” “A Whole New World” and “Prince Ali,” as well as wonderful new songs added for the Broadway production.With new, colorful characters and nonstop adventure, “Aladdin JR.” is sure to be a crowd-pleaser for all ages!

Show dates are Saturday, April 4 at 2 and 6 p.m., Friday, April 10 at 6 p.m. and Saturday, April 11 at 2 and 6 p.m. The venue is Central Hall Commons, 152 East Main St.

Tickets are available at the door. Both cash and credit cards are accepted. Concessions will be available, with all proceeds going to the Stageworks program.

“Disney’s Aladdin JR.” is presented through special arrangement and all materials are provided by Music Theatre International.

SeDoMoCha Elementary and Middle School’s theatre program has been introducing children to theatre for many years. The program provides opportunities for elementary and middle school students to experience the magic of theatre by being involved in two productions a year. Their most recent production was “Dot and the Kangaroo”, the winter show. Performances are held at the Central Hall Commons. The winter shows open in January and spring shows in April. We all hope you can come to see their shows each season.

SeDoMoCha serves students of many communities in the region, including Sebec, Dover-Foxcroft, Monson and Charleston.
