Foxcroft Academy field hockey coach steps down
DOVER-FOXCROFT — Following four seasons and leading her team to the 2025 Class C championship in her final game, Foxcroft Academy head field hockey coach Davan Walker has stepped down.
The announcement was posted on the school Facebook page on March 4.

Walker, who is in her second year as assistant principal of the SeDoMoCha School and is a 2000 Foxcroft Academy graduate, wrote about her time as field hockey coach, “I am incredibly grateful for the past four years as the varsity field hockey coach at Foxcroft Academy. It has been an honor to work with such dedicated student-athletes and to be part of a program supported by an amazing school community.
“After much thought, I have decided to step down from my coaching role. This choice was made solely with my family in mind. As my own boys grow and become more involved in their activities, I want to be fully present and not miss these important moments in their lives.
“I feel so blessed to have shared these years with such hardworking players, coaches and supportive families. I am proud of the growth and development of our field hockey program and all that these athletes have accomplished. I look forward to watching the program continue to thrive in the years ahead.
Thank you for the memories, the trust and the unwavering support. It has truly meant more than you know.”
In the Facebook post Athletic Administrator Jaclyn Tourtelotte expressed her admiration for Walker.
“I am grateful for Davan’s dedication to the program and the student-athletes,” Tourtelotte said. “Over the past four years, she has made a lasting impact on the field hockey program, and her influence will continue as we carry on the Pony Way.”
Walker had been only the third field hockey head coach in school history, following Stephanie Smith who led the program from 2013 to 2021 and Gene Philpot who served as head coach for the 35 seasons prior and who coached both Walker and Smith during their playing days. The three coaches each won Class C championships during their time on the sidelines (1991, 2007, 2013, 2019 and 2025).
Walker went on to field hockey play at St. Joseph’s College in Standish and began her coaching career as an assistant at the University of New England in Biddeford before moving on to Greely High School in Cumberland where she was also an assistant.
Foxcroft Academy is now looking for a head coach, with information on position on the Facebook page.
