Garland Republicans hear from area candidates

GARLAND — Rep. Chad Perkins, left, R-Dover-Foxcroft and Shawn Lancaster of Garland spoke at the recent Garland Republican caucus.

Perkins is running to represent Senate District 4, a huge district which includes all of Piscataquis County and a small portion of Penobscot County (including Garland). Perkins and his opponents will need 50% plus one of the primary vote if the winner is to avoid the Rank Choice Voting ballot counting procedure. Garland Republican Town Chair Mary Adams noted that Perkins is the only Senate District 4 candidate in the GOP primary who lives in Piscataquis County. The remaining primary candidates live in Penobscot County.
