Edes, Donahue finish second at state indoor track meet
LEWISTON — Piscataquis Community High School sophomore Ava Edes finished second in the high jump at the 2026 Class B indoor track and field championships on Monday at Bates College.
Edes cleared the bar at a height of 5 feet, the second highest of the competition. She trailed only the record-setting height of 5-06.25 for Old Town High School senior Elyannah Briggs. Briggs was just a quarter of an inch higher than the previous Class B indoor record of 5-06 set by Yarmouth High School’s Emma Egan a decade prior in 2016.
Edes accounted for all eight PCHS points. The Pirates tied Winslow High School for 22nd place among 28 girls teams picking up points at the state meet.
Edes also came in 18th in the 55-meter hurdle prelims with her time of 10.10 seconds.
PCHS sophomore Ella Zeller finished 16th in the shot put standings with a throw of 25-10.25.
The Foxcroft Academy girls scored four points to place 26th at the Class B championship.
Pony junior Jasmine Hall had the four points with her fifth-place shot put throw. Hall achieved a distance of 33-01.25.
Foxcroft freshman Olivia Mishio ran in the 800 and she came in 13th in a time of 2:48.50.
In the boys’ meet, Foxcroft Academy senior Conner Donahue finished as the Class B long jump runner-up. Donahue landed a distance of 20-02.50. He trailed only the 20-05.50 for Greely High School of Cumberland sophomore Jackson Walton.
Donahue’s long jump finish put the Ponies in a 4-way tie for 20th place among 32 teams scoring points. Ellsworth High School, the Sumner Memorial High School of Sullivan/Narraguagus High School of Harrington cooperative and Wells High School also each had eight points to join Foxcroft in 20th place.
PCHS sophomore Oliver Luckovskis finished 13th in the 800 with his time of 2:16.71
Penquis Valley High School senior Jareth Williams came in 16th in the 55-meter prelims in a time of 7.05 seconds.
