Three local athletes win conference track titles

ORONO — A trio of local athletes claimed individual titles at the 2026 Eastern Maine Indoor Track League championships on Feb. 7 at the University of Maine’s New Balance Field House.

The Piscataquis Community High School girls finished the competition with a score of 42 points to place fifth among a field of 10 teams.

Pirate sophomore Ava Edes earned top honors in the small school high jump. Edes cleared the bar at 4 feet, 10 inches, besting the 4-08 for runner-up Central High School senior Grace Menario by two inches.

Edes also came in third in the 55-meter hurdle finals with her time of 9.99 seconds.

Sophomore Ella Zeller had a third-place throw in the shot put as she attained a distance measuring 28-10.25. Sophomore Lilly Boutilier was sixth at 24-05.25.

PCHS 4×200 relay placed third as sophomore Macie Littlefield, seniors Sadie Kelley and Molly Goodwin and junior Haillee Marshall combined for a time of 2:11.03.

Marshall finished fourth in the long jump at 13-08 and fifth in the triple jump at 28-03.50.

Goodwin had a sixth-place performance in the long jump at 13-02.50.

Foxcroft Academy came in seventh at the meet with 11 points.

Pony junior Jasmine Hall won the shot put with her throw landing a distance of 34-06.50. Hall’s top throw was well over 5 feet beyond second place, 29-01 for George Stevens Academy of Blue Hill junior Acadia Simmons.

Freshman Olivia Mishio came in sixth in the 800 with her time of 2:44.46.

Penquis Valley High School placed 10th with one point.

Junior Ava Shoopman came in sixth in the 400 in a time of 1:16.71.

In the boys championship meet, Foxcroft scored 24 points to place seventh among nine teams.

Pony senior Conner Donahue won the long jump as he landed a distance of 20-04.75. Donahue was 3.75 inches ahead of the 20-01 for George Stevens Academy junior Reece Renwick.

Donahue came in third in the 200 at 25.05 seconds. He was fifth in the 55-meter finals in a time of 7.03 seconds.

Junior Noah Feriloi placed third in the 2-mile with his time of 10:57.58.

The boys from PCHS were eighth with 14 points.

Pirate sophomore Oliver Luckovskis came in second in the 800 with his time of 2:10.47. He was just a fraction of a second behind the 2:10.12 for winner Orono High School senior Andrew Barrett.

Senior Noah Kain placed fifth in the high jump and the shot put as he cleared the bar at a height of 5-00 and threw the shot 37-09.25.

Junior Phoenix Brown was fifth in the triple jump at 37-10.50.

Penquis scored 12 points to come in ninth.

Patriot senior Jareth Willimas finished second in the 55-meter finals with his time of 6.99 seconds. He was just a hundredth of a second behind event winner Orono junior Richie Watson and his time of 6.98 seconds.

Williams had all dozen of his team’s points between the 55 and his fourth-place performance in the 200 at 25.09 seconds.
