Three local athletes win indoor track events

ORONO — Three area athletes won their respective events at a Penobscot Valley Conference/Eastern Maine Indoor Track League meet on the morning of Saturday, Dec. 27 at the New Balance Field House on the campus of the University of Maine.

The Piscataquis Community High School boys picked up a total of 19 points to finish sixth among a field of nine schools.

Pirate sophomore Oliver Luckovskis turned in the top time in the 800 at 2 minutes, 11.71 seconds. He was about seven seconds faster than the 2:18.72 for runner-up Bangor High School senior Brady Pelletier.

Junior Phoenix Brown came in third in the triple jump with a leap measuring 38-07.50. Senior Noah Kain was fifth in the event at 36-04.25.

Kain added a sixth-place performance in the high jump as he cleared the bar at 5 feet.

Foxcroft Academy placed seventh in the team standings with 10 points.

Pony junior Noah Ferioli won the 2-mile with his time of 11:17.60. Ferioli was nearly 50 seconds faster than second-place finisher George Stevens Academy of Blue Hill senior Lucas Ladd’s 12:06.86.

The Penquis Valley High School boys were ninth with a score of eight points.

Patriot senior Jareth Williams picked up the eight points with his second-place performance in the 55-meter finals. Williams ran a time of 7.02 seconds, just behind the 7 seconds flat for Bangor junior Kooper Dionne.

In the girls meet, PCHS came in seventh of eight teams with 21 points.

Pirate sophomore Ava Edes placed first in the high jump with her height of 4-10, two inches higher than the 4-08 for Bangor junior Gwen Bushnell.

Edes had the fourth-place time in the 55-hurdle finals at 10.13 seconds.

Senior Sadie Kelley finished third in the mile at 7:02.94.

Junior Haylee Marshall was sixth in the triple jump with her distance of 28-10.50.

The Foxcroft girls were eighth with eight points.

Pony freshman Olivia Mishio came in second in the 800 with her time of 2:52.94. Mishio trailed only the time of 2:38.15 for Presque Isle High School sophomore Aleah Rideout.
