Presque Isle boys top FA in Class B North prelim

PRESQUE ISLE — On Saturday, Oct. 25 at the Johnson Athletic Complex in Presque Isle, the fifth-seeded Presque Isle High School Wildcats pulled out the 2-1 prelim victory over the No. 12 Foxcroft Academy Ponies.

Presque Isle got on the board with a little over 10 minutes remaining in the first half when a corner kick by Isaac Gogain was knocked down by the Ponies goalie and Eli Mosher shot the loose ball into the net. The lead was short-lived as only 28 seconds later, Foxcroft Academy’s Beckham Ade passed to Ludovico Barosi, who beat the Wildcat keeper for the 1-1 tie.

Midway through the second half a long throw-in by Bodey McPherson of the Wildcats found the foot of Brandon Porter, who finished for the 2-1 lead.  Neither team was able to score again and the Wildcats pulled out the 2-1 victory.

With the win Presque Isle now has a record of 10-3-1 and moves on to face the fourth-seeded Gardiner Area High School Tigers in a Class B North quarterfinal on Wednesday, Oct. 29.

The Ponies end the season with a record of 5-10.
