Dexter golf finishes fourth at Class C championship

VASSALBORO — The Dexter Regional High School golf team finished in fourth place at the 2025 Class C championship on Saturday, Oct. 11 at Natanis Golf Course.

The Tigers ended the day with a score of 342 points, fourth-fewest among the 13 qualifying schools.

North Yarmouth Academy won the state championship, the program’s second and first since 1996, by shooting a 333. The Monmouth Academy/Hall-Dale High School cooperative and Winthrop High School tied for second place with a score of 338.

Ryan Farnsworth led Dexter by finishing in a tie for seventh place in the individual standings as he and Chris Johnson of the Kents Hill School both shot an 80. A total of 105 golfers were at the Class C competition.

The Tigers’ Will Simpson was part of a 3-way tie for ninth place as he shot an 81.

Wyatt Corson was part of a 4-way tie for 15th place with his 83.

Keegan Cromwell’s score of 98 was good for a 3-way tie for 75th place.

Colin Mountain tied with a pair of other golfers for 83rd place at 101.

Jackson Clark rounded out the Dexter golf contingent by shooting a 103 to be in a 3-way tie for 89th place.

Drew Mentzel of Winthrop won the individual championship with his score of 75. North Yarmouth Academy’s Sawyer Hebert was the runner-up at 77 with Maddox Cuddy of Forest Hills High School of Jackman and Isiah Barrett of Machias Memorial High School tying for third place with their scores of 78.

Addison Beaudoin of Monmouth/Hall-Dale won the girls title by shooting an 87.

Dexter qualified for the Class C championship for the fifth season in a row, coming in second in 2024. In 2023 Dexter finished in a tie for eighth place with a score of 357, in 2022 Dexter came in third at 348 and in 2021 the team was sixth with a score of 369.
