Dover-Foxcroft Kiwanis, RSU 68 launch annual Christmas program

DOVER-FOXCROFT — The Kiwanis Club of Dover-Foxcroft and the RSU 68 staff are now in the active phase of our annual Christmas giving program. Each year we partner to ensure that no student in the Dover-Foxcroft region is without meaningful gifts on Christmas morning.

We thank the legions of residents and groups with local connections who adopt children and families and shop for them, as well as the many individuals who donate generously to the Kiwanis Charities to support the shoppers who help to close the gap on the needs. In each of the past two years over 200 students from more than 95 families have been served by the program. The annual impact of this, through donations and money contributed from Kiwanis fundraising, is over $40,000 per year.

The program is open to any student or child, age 18 and under, who live in or attend school in the RSU 68 school district, including those who are schooled at home. Information has been sent home through the schools to parents and distributed in the community to register children for the program. Strict privacy is ensured with every registration.

If you are a parent or guardian who wants to register a child, if you are someone interested in adopting one or more children to shop for them or if you are able to make a tax-deductible donation to the Dover-Foxcroft Kiwanis Charities please email us at dfkiwanischarities@gmail.com or call 207-270-0536 and leave a message.

We are also seeking volunteers who are available particularly between “drop-off day” on Dec. 6 and “pick-up day” on Dec. 20 who can help us with organizing the donations. Please email or call — all hands are appreciated!
