Northern Light Health hospitals win national awards for environmental sustainability
In recognition for achievement and innovation in healthcare sustainability, Northern Light Mayo Hospital in Dover-Foxcroft, Northern Light C.A. Dean Hospital in Greenville and Northern Light Sebasticook Valley Hospital in Pittsfield have received the Greenhealth Partner for Change Award from Practice Greenhealth, the nation’s leading organization dedicated to environmental sustainability in healthcare.
The Greenhealth Partner for Change Award recognizes superior performance in environmental sustainability, covering a range of different sustainability programs and activities.
“At a time of unprecedented financial challenge, it’s really an honor to be recognized nationally for the work that our employees and partners are doing to lessen our effects on the environment while also providing a favorable economic impact,” says Tim Doak, chief environmental sustainability officer. “These awards are a reflection of their efforts, as well as our commitment to the health of our patients and the communities we serve.”
Systemwide Northern Light Health has cut greenhouse gas emissions by 13% since 2021, the first year for which calculations are available.
