Northern Light Health announces fall mobile breast cancer screening schedule

Maine’s only mobile mammography unit will visit eight Maine towns this fall to improve access to lifesaving breast cancer screening in rural communities.

Mobile mammography offers the same experience as a medical office — it’s spacious, comfortable and has the latest 3D technology. Pre-scheduled and walk-in screenings are offered at all screening events:

Sept. 11 – Northern Light CA Dean Hospital, Greenville (walk-ins 8:30 a.m. to noon)

Sept. 16 – Northern Light Health Center, Sangerville (walk-ins 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.)

Sept. 20 – Northern Light Mayo Hospital, Dover-Foxcroft Walk for Hope (walk-ins 8 a.m. to noon)

Sept. 25 – Northern Light CA Dean Hospital, Greenville (walk-ins 8:30 a.m. to noon)

Dec.18 – Northern Light CA Dean Hospital, Greenville (walk-ins 8:30 a.m. to noon)

The mobile unit provides mammograms for routine screening only, and one year and one day must have passed since the patient’s last screening. Mammograms are recommended for most women beginning at age 40 because early detection allows treatment to begin sooner when cancer is easier to treat.

Please call 207-564-4353 to schedule an appointment or learn more about the screening events. To view the complete mobile mammography schedule visit northernlighthealth.org/mobilemammo.
