Northern Light Primary Care, Milo to hold free produce pop-up market

MILO — Northern Light Primary Care, Milo and Northern Light Mayo Hospital invite the community to attend a free produce pop-up market on Wednesday, Sept. 17 from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the health center located at 135 Park St.

Produce available at the market will include fresh vegetables from local and regional farms.

According to the Maine Shared Community Health Needs Assessment, nearly 17% of residents and 25% of youth in the region are food insecure. While individuals experiencing food insecurity were encouraged to attend, the markets were open to all. Attendees are asked to bring reusable bags to put their produce in, if available.

The market is a collaboration of Mayo Hospital, the University of Maine Cooperative Extension in Piscataquis County and Highland Area Gleaners. Food for the pop-up produce market is provided by the Piscataquis Regional Food Center.
