
Foxcroft boys, girls soccer split at Caribou

CARIBOU — On Saturday, Sept. 6 at Caribou, Owen Corrigan scored six goals to power the Vikings boys varsity to a season opening 6-4 victory over the Foxcroft Academy Ponies. The victory earned Caribou a split on the day, as Foxcroft Academy’s Lucia Silberstoff led the charge in the girl’s varsity 3-1 win over the Vikings.
In the opening girls game, Caribou’s Shanya Pelletier knocked home a pass from Quinn Corrigan to give the Vikings an early 1-0 lead. The lead held until the second half, when the Ponies’ Lucia Silberstoff sandwiched a pair of goals around a score by Maddy Muth, as Foxcroft came back for the 3-1 victory.

In the second game, the Vikings built up a 5-1 lead late into the second half, and then withstood a furious comeback attempt by the Ponies, who closed to within 5-4 with six minutes remaining. Owen Corrigan, who scored all six goals for Caribou, added an insurance goal with four minutes left to give the Vikings the victory margin of 6-4. Ben Bouchard and Declan Miller each had two assists for the Vikings. Ludovico Barosi had two goals to pace Foxcroft Academy, with Carlos Alba Moreno and Tom Nguyen each adding single goals for the Ponies.
