Registration opens for Walk for Hope to support cancer care in Piscataquis County

DOVER-FOXCROFT — Registration is now open for the second annual Walk for Hope, a fundraising event to benefit cancer care services in Piscataquis County. The walk is scheduled for Saturday, Sept. 20 at Northern Light Mayo Hospital in Dover-Foxcroft.

“Our first year was very successful, bringing in more than $31,000 to support cancer care services at the Tracy Hibbard Kasprzak Cancer Treatment Center and benefit the Patient Assistance Fund to help patients access care. We hope to build upon the incredible turnout in year two,” says Marie Vienneau, BSN, MHA, FACHE, senior vice president and regional president, Northern Light Health and president, Northern Light  CA Dean and Mayo Hospitals.

The cancer center at Mayo Hospital is named in memory of Tracy Hibbard Kasprzak, a beloved daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother and nurse whose 15-year battle with cancer inspired patients, survivors, caregivers and the community. The Cancer Center contains comfortable, private treatment spaces, a transfusion area, telemedicine  capability and private consultation rooms. Practitioners from Northern Light Cancer Care see patients locally so fewer patients must travel for care.
