Tiger track teams both finish third

BANGOR — The boys and girls outdoor track & field teams from Dexter Regional High School both finished the day in third place at a Penobscot Valley Conference meet hosted by Bangor High School at Cameron Stadium on May 9.

The Tiger girls were third among a field of five schools with a score of 33 points.

Freshman Ella McClintock-Hatch finished first in the 800 with her time of 2 minutes, 48.76 seconds, more than a second faster than the 2:49.92 for Bangor senior Alivia Mitchell.

McClintock-Hatch also placed fourth in the high jump at 4 feet, 2 inches and she was fifth in the triple jump at 29-01.50.

Senior Sunny Bache won the high jump as she cleared the bar at 4-06, edging Mattanawcook Academy of Lincoln junior Brynne Hunter on jumps. Bache also came in fourth in the long jump standings at 14-10.50.

Sophomore Brookelin Dorman finished second in the triple jump at a distance of 33-03. She was also fourth in the 100 in 13.71 seconds.

Dexter had three other fifth-place performances: freshman Kylie Gilbert in the 400 at 1:15.30; freshman Jemma Bullock in the 100 hurdles in 22.05 seconds; and junior Jazmin Channon in the long jump at 14-08.75.

The Tiger boys were also third of five teams, picking up 37 points.

Junior Bryce Cooper won the high jump as he cleared a height of 5-04, edging Mattanawcook freshman Max Fitch on jumps. Cooper also had a third-place javelin throw at 113-09.

He opened the Dexter 4×100 relay as Cooper, sophomore Bodhi Langlais, junior Damiar Miller and sophomore Tristan Hopkins-Watrous were third in 47.71 seconds.

Miller had the meet’s top triple jump performance at 40-10.75, more than 28 inches better than Hermon High School senior Bruce Colter with his leap of 38-06.25.

Miller also came in third in the high jump at 5-04 and he was fifth in the long jump at 19-04.

Hopkins-Watrous placed third in the 110 hurdles in 19.73 seconds.

Junior Brady Jerome finished third in the shot put as he had a throw measuring 41-07.75.
