Shiretown Singers in concert May 3
DOVER-FOXCROFT — The Shiretown Singers community choir announces its debut concert “How Can I Keep From Singing?” at 3 p.m. on Saturday, May 3 at the Central Hall Commons, 152 East Main St.
The concert features songs ranging from classical to folk, gospel and popular songs of the 20th century. Led by artistic director Allison Aldrich Smith with accompanist Evan Viera, the 18-voice choir will delight you and draw you in. Refreshments will be served after the hour-long concert.
“I am honored to be working with these wonderful singers,” said Smith. “We are an ‘all-inclusive’ choir, which means anyone can join, whether or not they have experience singing. Working together we have created an amazing sound! This is going to be a delightful concert.”
The Shiretown Singers, named after the group that sang in the region in the 1970s and 1980s, have been singing together since October. In the fall they focused on Christmas carols and participated in the Hometown Holidays celebration in December. In January they began working on this season’s debut concert program.
Admission to the concert is by donation. For more information email shiretownsingers@gmail.com or call 207-598-6398.
