Applications sought for 2025 AARP Community Challenge grant program

To the Editor;

AARP Maine is thrilled to announce that the 2025 AARP Community Challenge grant program is now accepting applications. We hope that all eligible nonprofits and government organizations will apply for this once-a-year opportunity!

The AARP Community Challenge grant program is part of the nationwide AARP Livable Communities initiative, which supports the efforts of communities to become great places for people of all ages, especially people 50-plus. The grants fund quick-action, innovative projects related to public places, transportation, housing, digital connections, community resilience, and more. Here in Maine, we’ve seen tangible, long-term results from previous grantees. Recent local projects have included disaster preparedness initiatives, transportation improvements, community park and open space enhancements, and much more.

We encourage eligible organizations to apply by the March 5 application deadline. For more information, to submit an application or view past grantees, visit www.AARP.org/CommunityChallenge. Since 2017, AARP has invested $20.1 million toward 1,700 projects – including 70 projects in Maine. Apply now and make sure your local project is considered for a grant this year!
