CA Dean Hospital Emergency Department recognized at the national level for patient experience

GREENVILLE — Northern Light CA Dean Hospital recently earned Human Experience Guardian of Excellence and Pinnacle of Excellence Awards from Press Ganey for being a top performing hospital in patient experience in the Emergency Department. These prestigious, national awards are part of Press Ganey’s annual rankings of the top hospitals and health systems in the country in patient experience.

As a winner of the Guardian of Excellence Award, the Emergency Department scored in the top five percent of Press Ganey clients in patient experience in the past year. The Pinnacle of Excellence Award recognizes the Emergency Department’s outstanding performance for the past three consecutive years.

In surveys, patients noted that the Emergency Department team works together to provide care and doctors listen carefully to patients. Consistently, patients shared that they were likely to recommend the Emergency Department to friends and family. These awards reflect care provided by staff in several areas of the hospital, because nearly every department contributes in some way to the care provided in the Emergency Department.

CA Dean was the only Maine hospital to earn two patient experience awards from Press Ganey in 2024.

CA Dean’s new Emergency Department, which opened in February of 2024, has received rave reviews from patients. The patient and family-friendly department has four patient rooms, including one that is designed to help behavioral health patients stay safe. The Emergency Department team consults with specialists on trauma care, behavioral health, and other services through Northern Light Eastern Maine Medical Center and the Northern Light Health Transfer Center. A telestroke connection with Massachusetts General Hospital brings the expertise of a vascular neurologist to the bedside during an emergency, when needed.
