FA’s Donahue and Hall win three track events
ORONO —- Foxcroft Academy junior Conner Donahue earned top honors in both the 200 meters and the triple jump at a Penobscot Valley Conference/Eastern Maine Indoor Track League meet on Friday, Jan. 10 at the University of Maine’s New Balance Field House. Donahue would account for 28 of the Ponies’ 36 points as the team came in fifth among a field of eight schools.
Donahue ran a top time of 23.97 seconds in the 200, just ahead of the 24.03 seconds for George Stevens Academy of Blue Hill senior Ben Baldwin’s second-place time.
Donahue won the triple jump at a distance of 39 feet, 8.75 inches, 4.5 inches ahead of the 39-04.25 for runner-up Brewer High School senior Cody Bailey.
Donahue also came in second in the long jump with his distance of 20-04.
Foxcroft senior Jaxson Zimmerman had a second-place throw in the shot put with a top heave of 39-07.
The Penquis Valley High School boys had 10 points to tie the Bangor Christian School for seventh place.
Penquis senior Lucas Chai came in third in the triple jump at a distance of 38-06.50.
Junior Jareth Williams finished fourth in the 55-meter finals with his time of 7.10 seconds.
In the girls’ meet Foxcroft scored 26 points to place seventh among nine schools.
Pony sophomore Jasmine Hall won the shot put at 32-08, more than a foot ahead of runner-up Brewer junior Madison Randall’s 31-07.50.
Senior Alexis Heretakis placed second in the 55-meter finals with her time of 8.01 seconds.She also was fifth in the 200 at 29.03 seconds.
Nina Huber finished fourth in the 400 and fifth in the 800 at 1:19.05 and 3:08.13 respectively.
The girls from Penquis Valley picked up three points to come in ninth in the standings.
Sophomore Violet Chai came in fifth in the 55-meter finals at 8.25 seconds.
Sophomore Ava Shoopman was sixth in the 200 at 30.93 seconds.
