Northern Light Mayo Hospital welcomes first baby of the new year

DOVER-FOXCROFT — Northern Light Mayo Hospital welcomed a special delivery on Tuesday, Jan. 7, the first baby born in Piscataquis County in 2025.

Delaney Jean Searles made her debut at 8:23 a.m. to proud parents Kaitlin Germano and Thomas Searles. Delaney weighed 11 pounds, 1 ounce at birth.

NEW YEAR’S BABY — Delaney Jean Searles is the first baby born in Piscataquis County in 2025, at 8:23 a.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 7 at Northern Light Mayo Hospital in Dover-Foxcroft. The proud parents are Kaitlin Germano and Thomas Searles.

“The Mayo Hospital team welcomes Delaney into the world and congratulates Kaitlin and Thomas on her arrival,” says Marie Vienneau, FACHE, president, Northern Light Mayo Hospital. “We wish them a healthy and happy year ahead, and we look forward to celebrating many more new arrivals in 2025.”

Mayo Hospital’s Birthing Center team presented the family with a special basket to celebrate the occasion on behalf of the Northern Light Health Foundation. Shaw’s Supermarket and the Dover-Foxcroft Congregational Church contributed items for the basket, and a grant from the Heart of Maine United Way provided diapers and other essentials.
