PCHS’ Goulette has top shot put throw

ORONO — Piscataquis Community High School junior Ava Goulette came in first in the shot put at a Penobscot Valley Conference/Eastern Maine Indoor Track League meet on Saturday, Dec. 21 at the University of Maine’s New Balance Field House. Goulette helped the Pirate girls score 17 points to place ninth among 10 schools recording points at the meet.

Goulette had a top shot put throw measuring 36 feet, 1 inch for the best of the competition. She was more than 5 feet ahead of the 31-10 for runner-up Old Town High School senior Kylee Murray.

PCHS freshman Ava Edes came in third in the 55-meter hurdle finals with her time of 10.08 seconds.

The Pirate 4×800 relay team was sixth among the A squads with a time of 2:16.41 run by junior Sadie Kelley, senior Baylynn Grant, and junior Molly Goodwin and Judith Jannsen.
