FA’s Donahue wins long and triple jump
ORONO —- Foxcroft Academy junior Conner Donahue earned top honors in both the long jump and the triple jump at a Penobscot Valley Conference/Eastern Maine Indoor Track League meet on Friday, Dec. 20 at the University of Maine’s New Balance Field House. Donahue would account for 22 of the Ponies’ 23 points as the team came in fifth among nine schools scoring points.
Donahue won the long jump at a distance of 20 feet, 5.75 inches over more than 11 inches ahead of the 19-06.50 for George Stevens Academy of Blue Hill sophomore Reece Renwich.
Donahue had the meet’s top performance in the triple jump with his distance of 40-08.50. He again bested Renwick as the runner-up, this time by over two feet as the George Stevens triple jumper’s best leap measured 38-07.75.
Two other Foxcroft points were scored by Donahue in the 200. He placed fifth in the event with a time of 24.52 seconds.
Pony senior Jaxson Zimmerman had a sixth-place throw in the shot put with his top heave of 38-10.50.
The Penquis Valley High School boys had four points to place ninth.
Patriot senior Lucas Chai came in fourth in the triple jump at 36-09.
In the girls’ meet, Foxcroft scored 12 points to place seventh among eight point-scoring teams.
Pony sophomore Jasmine Hall finished first in the shot put. Her throw measuring 32-11.75 was more than seven inches ahead of the 32-04.50 for runner-up Bucksport senior Natalie Simpson.
Foxcroft senior Alexis Heretakis was fifth in the long jump at 15-07.
