GFWC/Miosac Club news

DOVER-FOXCROFT — Business as usual with GFWC/Miosac Club at a recent club meeting. We are thankful to be together to be able to serve others. Ten members answered the roll call, and reports were given and approved.

Discussion regarding the Dover-Foxcroft Kiwanis Children’s Christmas Club was held and we were able to see what had been purchased for an 8-year-old boy. Surplus money was given to the Kiwanis to help the organization purchase more.

The change jar was passed around. Contents of the jar will go to Suzanne Raymond’s project, St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.

HOSTESSES — Hostesses for a recent meeting of the GFWC/Miosac Club were Brenda Quiet and Anne Cress.

Raymond noted that the community directories have gone to the printers. They will be available first of the year. We thank those businesses who took ads, that money helps us to continue our work.

Members brought flashlights to give to domestic violence shelters. We also brought personal care items for residents at Pleasant Meadows.

President Wendy Hutchins and Vice President Laurie Ducat will be assisting the Maine Veterans Project by helping to pack Thanksgiving boxes. Last year they gave over 200 Thanksgiving dinners.

Members brought thank you cards and we all signed them with “Thank you for your service.”

Members enjoyed refreshments provided by Anne Cress and Brenda Quiet.

The next meeting will be Dec. 7 at the home of Rheba Michaud. We will bring dishes to share and also food items to donate for the children through the food bank. We are asked to wear glitter so we can sparkle and shine as our year ends.

We wish you all a happy, peaceful holiday season.
