    ABBOT, ME – Ellen S. Merrill, 90, died December 15, 2014, in Birmingham, AL, at the residence of her daughter, Rhonda. Ellen had been living in Birmingham since May 2014. She was born March 11, 1924, in Abbot, the daughter of Eugene and Ruby Stone.
    Ellen worked many years for Guilford of Maine, now True Textiles. After retiring, she spent time with her friends at McDonalds and with her sister, Opal Bennett. In most recent years, she enjoyed crossword puzzles, bird watching and enjoying the warmer climate in Alabama.
    She is survived by one son, Ronald Merrill of Benton, ME, and his wife, Wendy; four grandchildren, Valerie Merrill Tarr and her husband, Jason, Matt and his wife, Emily, and their son, Gavin, Alex and his wife, Amy, and Sarah; as well as two daughters, Rhonda Merrill of Birmingham, AL, and her friend, Lynda Sears, and Raynata Roberts and husband, Paul, of Minneapolis, MN. She is also survived by her sister, Opal Bennett, of Dover-Foxcroft.
    She was predeceased by her husband, Donald Merrill.
