DOVER-FOXCROFT — The GFWC/Miosac Club met at the Dover-Foxcroft Congregational Church Tuesday, Oct. 15, Laurie Ducat was hostess. President Wendy Hutchins called the meeting to order. Ducat led the Club Collect, Pledge of Allegiance, and the American’s Creed.

Diane Leighton took roll call with 12 members responding. She then read the report of the last meeting with no corrections. Corresponding Secretary Roxy McGlauflin read a thank you from Marjorie Coburn Black for having her speak at the last meeting. Treasurer Anne Cress gave her report

Advisory Chair Betsey Ryan announced the next meeting will be Nov. 5 with hostesses Ryan and Vicki Moschella. Minnie McCormick is program chair.

Publicity Chair McCormick shared the letter to the editor she had written regarding the closing of the PRMCA.  She also related some of information she garnered from the meeting at the Thompson Free Library. Several attended and all are willing to help get it going again under a new name, no connection to the YMCA program.

Unfinished business, Hutchins reminded members that Fall Conference was set for Oct. 23 in Waterville.Suzanne Raymond will be presiding, some members plan to attend.

The contents of the change jar available at every meeting will go toward Raymond’s project, St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. 

Hutchins reported the National Day of Service Impact was sent. Members contributed cans of soup for this project.

Raymond reported on the community directory and noted we have a few empty spaces. Members offered to try to get those spaces filled. Many businesses are very thankful for this informative, low cost advertising.

The Christmas stocking was passed around and members put their donations for the Dover-Foxcroft Kiwanis Christmas. Raymond will do the shopping.

Under new business, Hutchins announced Oct. 23 is Celebrate the Child Advocacy Week Safe Surfin. She has sent the link so members can watch it.

Past President of GFWC/Maine Mary Libby has passed away and members signed a card to be sent to her husband  Other cards were signed to send to ill members.

Ducat asked for volunteers to help fill  boxes for the Maine Veterans Home for Thanksgiving

The meeting was then adjourned. Ducat assisted by Kathy Ryder served refreshments.
