Dr. Evans would help provide health education and prevention programs in schools
To the Editor;
Dr. Richard Evans is a candidate for Maine Senate from District 4. During his previous tenure in the Maine Legislature, Dr. Evans personally sponsored seven bills related to health coverage insurance and financial services, six of which were enacted. The American Medical Association presented Dr. Evans with the AMA Award for Outstanding Government Services.
As a retired school health educator, I am heartened by Dr. Evans’ recognition of the importance of a well-rounded education for our children. In addition, he is concerned about substance abuse disease in our communities. Comprehensive K-12 Health Education is addressing substance abuse and other health issues facing Maine kids. His informed leadership in the Maine Senate can help us continue to provide health education and prevention programs in our schools.
