Vote for Dr. Evans to work for us in Augusta
To the Editor;
It’s a job … not a personality contest. We need a person in the Maine government who understands the policies and issues that influence our daily lives here in Piscataquis County.
When we vote for a person to represent us in Augusta we are holding our thumb on the pulse of our communities. We need to hire individuals who are willing to take time from their regular jobs to drive to Augusta, sit in their assigned chairs, and listen to the needs and opportunities that will affect our lives here in Central Maine.
Like much of our population in Maine, our infrastructure has been significantly aging. However, over the past year I have driven over repaired roads, fresh tar, and strong new bridges. Right now, on rural roads in my area, linemen are running new lines to enhance communications in this rural part of our state to allow citizens to have functioning internet connectivity for work, school and family.
We need policies that keep poisons out of our water, fields and foods … not a simple problem but essential to our health and wellbeing. Health care needs in Central Maine are imperative for all ages, and understanding the issues to support the economics, staffing, prescription drug availability, and access to maintain medical resources in our area is an ongoing challenge.
Our education system is a vast network that ensures the opportunities that our children need to prepare them for jobs that will carry them successfully into adulthood. Our public education needs our support; it is a benefit that mustn’t be taken for granted. Voting is the part we play, as citizens, in sending sane, responsible people to do the serious work of our government.
Dr. Richard Evans, D-Dover-Foxcroft wants to work for us in the Maine Legislature. He has done the job before, sponsoring bills that dealt with accidental drug overdoses, maximizing health coverage through MaineCare and marketplace health plans, ensuring the safety of healthcare workers, and he worked diligently with other legislators to co-sponsor bills that benefited Maine people. As a veteran, a physician, and a family man Dr. Evans understands Maine and Maine people. He’s qualified and he’s serious about representing us in Augusta.
Vote thoughtfully, vote rationally, vote seriously, but vote this November so that our government can continue to work for Maine people.
