Golden announces $434K for Greenville Municipal Airport

WASHINGTON, D.C. — U.S. Rep. Jared Golden, D-Maine announced that $12 million in federal aviation grants have been awarded to airports across Maine’s Second District over the past month. Most of the grants were funded through the Airport Infrastructure Grant program and Airport Terminals Program, authorized under the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law that Golden championed through passage in 2021.

The Greenville Municipal Airport will receive $220,000 to replace an existing airport rotating beacon via AIG and ATP grants funded through the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law. Another $214,000 for the airport will be for new taxiways via AIP grants funded through the normal appropriations process.

Golden was a strong advocate for the passage of the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law, which has directed billions of dollars to invest in Maine’s roads, bridges, broadband, airports, and much more while creating jobs that build a better Maine.

“In Maine’s most rural communities, air travel helps connect people, goods, emergency services, and more,” Golden said. “Once again, the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law is ensuring that federal resources are being invested right here at home.”

The remaining funds were distributed through the Airport Improvement Program through the normal annual appropriations process. All three grant programs support the necessary infrastructure to keep airports up to date and meet the needs of the regions they serve, from constructing new terminals to rehabilitating taxiways.

Cumulatively, the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law has invested tens of millions into airport improvements in the Second District since 2022. Full descriptions of the latest round of awards can be found on the FAA’s AIP, AIG, and ATP webpages.
