A career in nursing is within reach with education close to home
DOVER-FOXCROFT — Northern Light Mayo Hospital and Eastern Maine Community College are making it easier than ever to pursue a career in nursing by bringing the classroom to our community.
Through a collaborative program, Mayo Hospital and EMCC provide future nurses with an option to complete coursework and clinical rotations in Dover-Foxcroft. Anyone interested in learning more about this convenient learning option is invited to attend an information session on Thursday, June 20 at 4 p.m. at Mayo Hospital.
“Travel and cost are two of the biggest barriers that people face to earning a nursing degree. Now, thanks to a local training option and tuition reimbursement and loan forgiveness programs, nursing careers are well within reach for many. We’re bringing the education to you and helping to pay for it,” says Nikki Chadwick, RN, MSN, CPHQ, vice president of quality and education, Mayo Hospital.
Topics covered at the information session will include:
- The application process
- Required prerequisites and transfer credit information
- Immunizations, background checks, and physical requirements
- School scholarship offerings
- Tuition reimbursement and loan forgiveness programs through Mayo Hospital
- Tentative school schedule
- Time commitment
