Presentation on the history of Thompson Free Library

DOVER-FOXCROFT — The Piscataquis Observer, Feb. 18, 1897, “A very agreeable piece of news was circulated among the people of our community Tuesday. It was stated that one of our citizens is to erect a fine building this coming summer and present it to the town of Dover for a free library, and to give to the town, the sum of ten thousand dollars for all time to come.”

Thus begins the tale of Dr. E. A. Thompson and his generous donation in memory of his wife. The Dover-Foxcroft Historical Society will continue the story as Jon Knepp, executive director of our library, presents the rest of the tale. Join us at Central Hall Commons on Wednesday, Oct. 4 at 7 p.m. as we continue the saga. All are welcome.
