Chloe’s Collections working to raise funds for Wounded Warrior Project

    PARKMAN — With Veterans Day approaching on Tuesday, Nov. 11, many people are taking the time to think about the sacrifices made by those who served their country. One business owner is taking action by donating a portion of sales to the Wounded Warrior Project (www.woundedwarriorproject.org), a military/veterans’ charity organization empowering veterans and their families through a variety of programs, services and events.

    WOUNDED WARRIOR PROJECT RAFFLE — A Thanksgiving centerpiece is being raffled by Chloe’s Collections in Parkman, with proceeds benefiting the Wounded Warrior Project. A percentage of all sales at the business on Veterans Day and through Nov. 14 will be donated to the Wounded Warrior Project.

    Owner Joy Gregory of Chloe’s Collections Florist & Gift Shoppe on Route 150 said she will be having an open house on Nov. 11 and from that Tuesday to Friday, Nov. 14 “a percentage of every single sale is going to the Wounded Warrior Project.” Gregory said those stopping by can also make direct donations to the Wounded Warrior Project, a national organization that offers some of its programs to honor and empower in the state of Maine.
    “The most important thing is to thank our veterans,” Gregory said. “Everybody should get out and thank a veteran. Everybody just needs to stop and think about why they are free and acknowledge what these people have given to us.”
    Gregory will be conducting a raffle for an arrangement, with a candle as the centerpiece, for “the Thanksgiving table” as another fundraiser for the Wounded Warrior Project. Gregory said members of her extended family have served in the armed forces, and recognizing all who have served “is really near and dear to my heart.”
    On Monday, Nov. 10 SAD 4 will conduct its annual veterans celebration, starting at 1 p.m. at the Piscataquis Community Secondary School. Gregory said faculty and staff members will be given coupons to Chloe’s Collections to encourage them to stop by later in the week when portions of sales will go toward the Wounded Warrior Project.
    “We have got to give back, that’s how I feel,” Gregory said, mentioning that Maine has one of the highest percentages in the nation of residents who have served or are in the military.
