Fourth of July events around the region
The towns of Sebec, Dexter, Greenville, and Rockwood will each be celebrating Independence Day with events on and leading up to Tuesday July 4.
The Fourth of July events in Sebec Village begin with fireworks at dusk on Monday, July 3 with food available starting at 6 p.m.
On Independence Day events start with breakfast at 7 a.m. at the Sebec Village Community Church, 734 Sebec Village Road, by donation.
The parade through the village starts at 9:30 a.m. and the canoe race will begin at 11 a.m. The chicken BBQ gets underway at 10:30 a.m., for eat in or take out, and the menu has chicken and all the sides, baked beans, roll and beverage as well as ribs.
July 4 in Sebec includes an all-morning bake sale with lots of goodies and pony rides.
Dexter fireworks will be held at dusk on Monday, July 3 over Dexter Regional High School.
Dexter’s Fourth of July parade will start at 10 a.m. at the Dexter Fire Department station on Route 7, and proceed to the old shoe shop on Lincoln Street. A boat parade on Lake Wassookeag will begin at noon.
In Greenville a Fourth of July parade to “Party Like It’s 1776” starts at 1 p.m. in the industrial park in the Junction and ends downtown.
Fireworks will be held in East Cove at dusk (approximately 9 p.m.)
Rockwood’s 14th annual Fourth of July Boat Parade will be at 7 p.m. on Sunday, July 2. Line up at the Rockwood Public Landing at 6:45 p.m. or watch the route from the landing to Maynard’s in Maine and back.
There will be fireworks and patriotic music playing at The Birches Resort on Independence Day. Fireworks start at dusk on Tuesday.
