‘Golden Shorts’ films returning to the area

    DOVER-FOXCROFT — The “Golden Shorts” are back. These short, inspiring films about older people reinventing themselves, enjoying intergenerational friendships and coming to terms with the losses, caregiving demands and unexpected gifts that accompany advanced age are little gems that reflect profound human experiences. Seen together, they encourage conversation about what it means to grow older and how we can bring more hope, comfort, and vibrancy to later life. These films promoted in association with the 2014 Camden International Film Festival have gotten enthusiastic reviews across the state. 

    The films’ reappearance at the Center Theatre in Dover-Foxcroft is supported by the Thriving in Place and Healthy Community projects, both funded by the Maine Health Access Foundation, and the Maine Highlands Senior Center. These grassroots initiatives aim to improve health and aging in Piscataquis County. There is no fee for the “Golden Shorts” screening, but donations will be accepted. There will be two screenings on Tuesday, Oct. 21 at 1 and 6:30 p.m. Information will be available about ongoing community health improvement projects.
