Piscataquis Regional Food Center receives MaineCF grant to support the Dover-Foxcroft Area Food Center
DOVER-FOXCROFT — The Piscataquis Regional Food Center has received a $10,000 grant from the Roger N. Heald Fund of the Maine Community Foundation in support of the Dover-Foxcroft Area Food Center, serving low-income area households.
“This grant will help the Food Center help area families who are struggling to access healthy and nutritious food,” said Kelly Sirimoglu, PRFC’s executive director. “Higher food prices and reduced SNAP benefits have increased the number of people seeking assistance by 46 percent in a few short months. This grant will help fill the shelves this summer.”
Piscataquis Regional Food Center, gets food moving! We receive almost one million pounds of food a year from Good Shepherd Food Bank and re-distribute it to neighborhood pantries in Piscataquis County, Dexter, Corinna, Newport, and Harmony. We are home to the Dover-Foxcroft Area Food Center, where community members select the food and personal care items they need. We deliver food boxes and farm-fresh produce to low-income, homebound individuals throughout the Maine Highlands region and also provide storage and light processing space for small farms and food entrepreneurs.
