D-F Fire Department receives $63,000 grant

DOVER-FOXCROFT — Maine’s legislative delegation has announced that the Dover-Foxcroft Fire Department will receive $63,431 through FEMA’s Assistance to Firefighters Grants (AFG) program, with the funding covering protective gear and an air refill station. The Bangor Fire Department will also receive funding.

“These federal funds will help ensure our first responders in Bangor and Dover-Foxcroft have the staffing and resources they need to effectively do their jobs,” said Rep. Michaud (D-Maine). “These types of grants are critically important to municipalities. We ask our first responders to put their safety on the line every day to protect our communities. In return, we must provide them with the equipment, staffing levels, and training they need — and that’s what these FEMA grants allow us to do.”
“Our career and volunteer firefighters are among our bravest public servants.  These grant programs are an extremely critical source of funds for our fire and rescue personnel,” said Sen. Susan Collins (R-Maine).
 “Our fire and rescue services must have the personnel, training, and equipment necessary to do their critical job,” Sen. Angus King (I-Maine) said. “This funding will assist the Bangor Fire Department and Dover-Foxcroft Fire and Rescue as they continue to work tirelessly to safeguard their communities.”
AFG grants are used for training, equipment, wellness and fitness, and modifications to the departments’ facilities. Grants are administered by FEMA.
