DOVER-FOXCROFT — James and Mary Salley were recently honored with a 65th wedding anniversary open house at the Dover-Foxcroft United Methodist Church. The event was hosted by their son and daughter-in-law, Rick and Kathy Salley of Chesterfield, Va. and their daughter, Judy Getchell of Dover-Foxcroft.

Nearly 100 family members and friends were in attendance and showered the happy couple with cards, gifts and best wishes.
The highlight of the affair, however, was being serenaded by their great granddaughters: 7-year-old Sofia Derosby of Vassalboro who sang “Shoo Fly,” which she had recently learned for a school program; and 6-year-old Makayla Santin from Nixon, Texas, who sang “Happy Anniversary” in Spanish.
James H. Salley of Dover-Foxcroft and Mary Elizabeth Herring of Guilford were married on August 5, 1949, at the Guilford Center Baptist Church. They have resided in Dover-Foxcroft since then.
Jim and Mary wish to convey a heartfelt thank you to everyone who helped them celebrate 65 years of wedded bliss.
