13 more Mainers have died and another 1,534 coronavirus cases reported since the weekend

Thirteen more Mainers have died and another 1,534 coronavirus cases reported across the state since the weekend, Maine health officials said Tuesday.
Tuesday’s report brings the total number of coronavirus cases in Maine to 175,759, according to the Maine Center for Disease Control and Prevention. That’s up from 174,225 on Saturday.
Of those, 129,418 have been confirmed positive, while 46,341 were classified as “probable cases,” the Maine CDC reported.
Nine men and four women have succumbed to the virus, bringing the statewide death toll to 1,751.
One was from Androscoggin County, two from Aroostook County, one from Hancock County, two from Kennebec County, one from Lincoln County, two from Penobscot County, one from Sagadahoc County, one from Somerset County and one from York County.
Four were 80 or older, four were in their 70s and five were in their 60s.
The number of coronavirus cases diagnosed in the past 14 days statewide is 14,364. This is an estimation of the current number of active cases in the state, as the Maine CDC is no longer tracking recoveries for all patients. That’s up from 13,368 on Monday.
The new case rate statewide Tuesday was 11.46 cases per 10,000 residents, and the total case rate statewide was 1,313.20.
Maine’s seven-day average for new coronavirus cases is 1,042, down from 1,048.6 the day before, up from 1,030.7 a week ago and up from 706.6 a month ago.
The most cases have been detected in Mainers younger than 20, while Mainers over 80 years old account for the largest portion of deaths. More cases have been recorded in women and more deaths in men.
So far, 3,937 Mainers have been hospitalized at some point with COVID-19, the illness caused by the new coronavirus. Information about those who are currently hospitalized wasn’t immediately available.
The total statewide hospitalization rate on Tuesday was 29.42 patients per 10,000 residents.
Cases have been reported in Androscoggin (17,753), Aroostook (8,415), Cumberland (36,106), Franklin (4,387), Hancock (5,144), Kennebec (16,962), Knox (4,170), Lincoln (3,704), Oxford (8,738), Penobscot (19,822), Piscataquis (2,236), Sagadahoc (3,674), Somerset (7,423), Waldo (4,370), Washington (3,125) and York (29,748) counties. Information about where an additional two cases were reported wasn’t immediately available.
An additional 1,211 vaccine doses were administered in the previous 24 hours. As of Tuesday, 976,426 Mainers are fully vaccinated, or about 76.2 percent of eligible Mainers, according to the Maine CDC.
As of Tuesday morning, the coronavirus had sickened 74,943,050 people in all 50 states, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, Guam, the Northern Mariana Islands and the U.S. Virgin Islands, as well as caused 886,691 deaths, according to the Johns Hopkins University of Medicine.
