ORONO – The Foxcroft Academy and Dexter Regional High School indoor track and field teams were in action at the fourth Penobscot Valley Conference-Eastern Maine Indoor Track League meet weekend of the season Jan. 8 at the University of Maine’s New Balance Field House.
The Pony boys scored 24 points to finish sixth among a field of nine schools.
Freshman Runner Jarrett came in the third in the mile with a time of 5 minutes, 23.23 seconds. Jarrett was also sixth in the 800 in 2:33.65.
Senior Jesse Drury had the meet’s third-best performance in the pole vault, as he cleared the bar at 9 feet. Drury also finished fourth in the 55 meters at 7.19 seconds.
Junior Kyle Jankunas tied for third in the high jump. He and Sumner Memorial High School of Sullivan sophomore Caleb Willett both had a height of 4-06.
Foxcroft junior Alvaro Diaz was sixth in the 200 at 26.81 seconds, and sophomore Zachary Peirce came in sixth in the 400 in a time of 1:04.66.
The Dexter boys were ninth on Jan. 8 with a score of two points.
Tiger senior Miles Gadwah picked up the pair of points by placing fifth in the 55 meter hurdles with a time of 10.69 seconds.
In the girls’ meet, Foxcroft was eighth among a field of eight teams with a score of six points.
Senior Kasey Howell came in fourth in the 55-meter finals with her time of 8.36 seconds.
Junior Olivia Hill had a fifth-place performance in the shot put with a throw measuring 28-05.50.
