ORONO – The Foxcroft Academy indoor track and field team opened the 2021-22 Penobscot Valley Conference-Eastern Maine Indoor Track League season Dec. 18 at the University of Maine’s New Balance Field House, the first in-person meet against other schools for the program in nearly two years. A year ago track teams across the league competed virtually against one another.

The Pony boys scored 28 points to finish fifth among a field of seven schools.

Freshman Runner Jarrett came in second at two miles in a time of 11 minutes, 53.64 seconds.

Senior Jacob Reed and sophomore Jack Kingsbury were second and third in the high jump. Each cleared the bar at a height of 5 feet, 6 inches with Reed having the advantage on jumps.

Sophomore Zachary Peirce came in third in the 400 at 1:03.96.

The Foxcroft girls had no score. Junior Olivia Hill had her team’s highest placement as she finished 10th in the shot put with a throw measuring 25-10.50.

Senior Kasey Howell was 15th in both the 55-meter prelims and the 200 with times of 8.64 and 31.96 seconds.

Foxcroft returned to the track on Dec. 23 at UMaine. The Pony boys placed seventh among a field of nine teams with a score of 20 points.

Reed came in second in the high jump at 5-08, and Kingsbury was fourth at 5-04.

Reed also had a pair of fourth-place performances in the long and triple jumps. He leaped respective distances of 18-00.50 and 35-10.25.

Dexter Regional High School senior Miles Gadwah ran to a fourth place performance in the 55-meter hurdles in a time of 11.12 seconds. Gadwah accounted for all four of the Tiger points.

In the girls’ meet, Foxcroft was eighth among eight squads with six points.

Hill scored the half dozen points by placing third in the shot put. Hill threw a distance of 29-06.
