Staff Report
GREENVILLE — Maine’s congressional delegation announced that 12 airports will collectively receive more than $3.3 million from the Federal Aviation Administration’s Airport Improvement Grant Program. Grant funds will be used for a wide variety of projects aimed at improving airport infrastructure, safety, efficiency, and traveler experience.
Greenville Municipal Airport will receive $225,000 toward the construction of a stormwater treatment area to meet the Maine Department of Environmental Protection permit requirements.
The grant requires a 10 percent local match, according to Town Manager John Simko. The winning bid for the project was awarded to local contractor Mike Theriault in late April.
More than $10 million has been invested in the Greenville Municipal Airport during the past decade including $4.5 million for resurfacing the main runway and $2.2 million for the secondary runway.
