Fourth of July events around the region

The towns of Sebec, Dexter and Greenville will each be celebrating Independence Day with events on and around Sunday, July 4.

The Fourth of July events in Sebec Village begin with fireworks at dusk on Saturday, July 3 with sweets and treats available. 

On Independence Day events start with breakfast from 7:30-9 a.m. at the Sebec Village Community Church, 734 Sebec Village Road, by donation. The menu includes breakfast sandwiches, muffins, fruit cups and coffee.

The parade through the village starts at 9:30 a.m. and the canoe race will begin at 11 a.m. The chicken BBQ gets underway at 11 a.m., for eat in or take out, and the menu has chicken with salads, baked beans, roll and beverage.

HAPPY FOURTH OF JULY — On Sunday Sebec will again join thousands of other communities across the nation in celebrating the Fourth of July. The 2021 procession through the village starts at 9:30 a.m. on Sunday, July 4.

July 4 in Sebec includes an all-morning bake sale with lots of goodies and pony rides.

In Dexter fireworks over Lake Wassookeag are scheduled for 8:50 p.m. at Big Lake Wassookeag on Saturday, July 3.

The Fourth of July parade will start at 11 a.m. on Sunday at the Dexter Fire Department station on Route 7, and proceed to the old shoe shop on Lincoln Street. A boat parade on Lake Wassookeag follows at 12:30 p.m.

In Greenville, holiday events start on Saturday with an American Legion woodsman’s breakfast from 7-10 a..m. A craft fair takes place from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. in the Camden National Bank parking lot and a Katahdin Sugar Island cruise departs at 12:30 p.m.

The Fourth of July parade to celebrate “Moosehead Lake: Past, Present & Future” starts at 1 p.m. on Sunday in the industrial park in the Junction and ends downtown.

A Katahdin fireworks cruise departs at 7 p.m. Fireworks will be shot off from the East Cove starting at 9 p.m. (dusk) for a 30-minute show.
