Foxcroft, Penquis and PCHS track squads start 2021 at Old Town

OLD TOWN — The season began for Foxcroft Academy, Penquis Valley High School and Piscataquis Community High School at Old Town High School on April 24. The PCHS girls were second among five schools with a score of 30 points, Foxcroft placed fourth with eight points and Penquis was fifth at three points.

Pirate sophomore Molly Sipple had the day’s top performances in both the 100 at 14.13 seconds and 800 in a time of 2:51.10. Sipple also opened the second place 4×100 relay as she, sophomore Kendall Kimball and juniors Taylor Folsom and Ariana Fanjoy combined for a time of 59.35 seconds.

Kimball also placed third in the javelin at 74-06. Fanjoy was fifth in the 100 in 14.63 seconds and sophomore Samantha Goodwin came in fifth in the 200 at 32.73 seconds.

Foxcroft Academy junior Kasey Howell finished third in the 200 in 31.92 seconds. She also anchored the fifth-place 4×100 relay as junior Grace Carlson, freshman Paige Weidman, sophomore Emma Ladd and Howell combined for a time of 1:02.23.

Pony freshman Amara Perfect added a fourth-place performance in the javelin at a distance of 70-01.

For Penquis, senior Courtney Rouleau was fourth in the high jump at 4-02. Senior Savannah Boislard came in fifth in the long jump at 11-05.50.

In the boys’ meet, Foxcroft came in third among a field of five teams with a score of 50 points. PCHS was seventh with seven points and Penquis came in fifth with six points.

Pony freshman Kemsley Marsters won the javelin with a throw of 119-06. Marsters also was fifth in the 100 at 12.56 seconds and he ran the second leg of the third-place 4×100 relay. Freshman Jackson Smith, Marsters, junior Bodie Clarke and freshman Jack Kingsbury combined for a time of 49.22 seconds.

Smith placed second in the high jump at a height of 5-08. He also was third in the 100 at 12.37 seconds.

Senior Logan Martin finished second in the long jump at 18-07.25. 

Junior Aidan Curry came in second in the 110 hurdles at 21.84 seconds and he was third in the 300 hurdles in a time of 59.18 seconds.

Foxcroft had fourth-place finishes by Clarke in the 100 and 200 at 12.47 and 26.50 seconds, sophomore Joseph Nelson in the 800 at 3:02.03 and junior Jacob Reed in the high jump at 5-06.

Pony fifth-place finishers were Nelson in the 1,600 at 6:31.62, Kingsbury in the high jump at 5-02 and Reed in the long jump at 16-08.25.

For PCHS senior Ty Massie placed second in the javelin at a distance of 114-10. Junior Alex Shedd came in fifth in the 800 at 3:24.32.

Penquis had a trio of fourth-place finishes, junior David Stone in both the shot put and discus at 33-06.75 and 94-00 and freshman Damion Drake in the 1,600 at 6:51.98.
