BANGOR — The Tri County Workforce Investment Board’s Youth Council has announced Epic Maine: Exploring Pathways to Industries & Careers on Thursday, April 24 from 10 a.m. — 3 p.m. at Eastern Maine Community College in Bangor.
This free event is designed to serve young adults from age 16-24 in Penobscot, Piscataquis and Hancock Counties. This work is being done in partnership with Eastern Maine Community College, Penobscot Job Corps, Husson University, Eastern Maine Development Corporation, and the Maine National Guard and with support from businesses and additional educators.

By offering this unique career development activity, youth and young adults will get opportunities to network with those workers who do the jobs they are interested in. Attendees will get to have meaningful conversations as well as see demonstrations of hand-on work by front line workers.
The purpose of this activity is to provide a networking opportunity as well as to motivate and engage older youth and young adults to think about what career track(s) they may be interested in. The partnership will coordinate businesses and professionals who will provide education, direction, and hands on experiences to attendees, which will strengthen and encourage informed decision-making by the youth.
Transportation will be provided, if needed. Outreach and pre-work with students and interested young adults will occur prior to event day and students can register early to select areas of interest and be entered for a chance to win an iPad.
Keynote speakers are Ben Sprague, Bangor City Council Chair and Col. Jack Mosher from the Maine Army National Guard who will address attendees at the start of Epic Maine.
Sponsors include Bangor Savings Bank, the Maine Army National Guard, Eastern Maine Community College, Husson University, Tri-County Workforce, Eastern Maine Development Corporation, Job Corps, Cianbro, the Charlotte White Center and the Grasshopper Shops of Maine.
Information will be updated at www.epicmaine.net.
