Mayo Regional Hospital a part of Alfond Foundation college grant program

PORTLAND — Mayo Regional Hospital Obstetrics Nurse Manager Denise Scuderi, RN, BSN represented the hospital at the March 6 Portland Chamber of Commerce meeting and press conference at which the Harold Alfond Foundation (HAF) announced that all babies born as Maine residents will now automatically be awarded a $500 Alfond grant for college.

“This is an excellent opportunity for all babies born in Maine to get a head start on saving for college,” Scuderi said. “This will be much easier for parents as they no longer have to fill out paperwork and babies will be automatically enrolled. Previously only 40 percent of Maine babies were enrolled by their parents but now 100 percent will receive the $500 grant.”
