Rep. Evans appointed to health insurance panel
AUGUSTA – Rep. Richard Evans, D-Dover-Foxcroft has been appointed to serve on the Legislature’s Health Coverage, Insurance and Financial Services Committee.
“This committee was my first choice, and I am very excited about serving,” said Evans. “In my experience as a doctor, I have seen the tremendous difference that having quality health coverage makes in a patient’s life. They seek care sooner, which usually leads to better outcomes, and they worry less about costs. I am looking forward to working to make health coverage more accessible to Mainers.”
The Health Coverage, Insurance and Financial Services Committee oversees policy regarding health insurance coverage, banking, credit unions, the Bureau of Consumer Protection, mortgage lending, foreclosure prevention and mutual funds.
Evans is a physician, and is serving his first term in the Maine House. He represents Atkinson, Brownville, Dover-Foxcroft, Medford, Milo, the plantation of Lake View and the unorganized territory of Orneville Township.
