Greenville selectmen to discuss housing grant and incubator building

Staff Report

GREENVILLE — Two major items on the Greenville Board of Selectmen’s meeting agenda for Wednesday,  March 19 are the community development block grant (CBDG) application for housing assistance and a proposal for the town-owned business incubator building.

With the help of Mike Bonney of Penquis, the town has submitted the required letter of intent for the CBDG application. The next step is to appoint a housing advisory committee to assist in the design of the program and help solicit pre-applications for assistance.
Steve Levesque of the Moosehead Lake Region Economic Development Corporation will make a presentation on a proposal to lease the incubator building and then market it for sub-lease. It would be renamed the Greenville Business Center.
A proposal will also be presented by Town Manager John Simko at Wednesday’s meeting for a “yellow and orange bag plan” to charge for disposal of municipal solid waste and construction/demolition debris from outlying communities. The fee would cover all the town’s costs.
Also, the first meeting of the budget committee and the Board of Selectmen will be Wednesday, March 26 at 6 p.m.  An overview of the budget will be presented to selectmen before that meeting.
The March 19 meeting begins at 6:30 p.m.
