Safe Streets update
MILO — Construction of the Safe Streets (Main Street project) Phase II project will begin as soon as possible in April, with a contract completion date of June 30.
The scope of work includes full depth removal of the sidewalks; replace/replenish the gravel base material under the sidewalk; install granite curb from Water Street intersection to the generator shop parking area; remove the temporary light pole and fixtures and replace the existing concrete bases with bases larger in size; install the newly received permanent street light poles and fixtures; install tree wells, grates and a planting area for the installation of Linden trees purchased through a previous grant that are currently stored at the bottom of the Heritage Building lot; plant Linden trees by the town outside of the Safe Streets contract; install new sidewalks, install paving strip along the curb line; and paint temporary crosswalks.
When completed, the side of Main Street extending to Park Street should look similar to the side of the street extending into Park and Pleasant streets.
Town officials appreciate the patience and tolerance of business owners and patrons in the work area during the course of the project, and apologizes for any inconvenience work may cause.
